5 Easy Model Details to Make you Smile

I have anxiety and depression and they can be real turds at times. The older I get, the more likely I am to stop and take a little time to soothe my soul. In my journey through self-care I've found a few things to go to for a quick pick-me-up. They also help me maintain a "model" appearance but truly do make me feel good.

Disclaimer: I'm not a doctor and this is not medical advice. As always, consult with your physician before doing anything here.

1. Hot oil hand treatment

Cue the "yussssssss" now! I heat up a little olive oil in a small dish (I have an obsession with milk glass) for about 30 seconds (*please test the temperature before dipping your hands in, I don't want anyone to get burns*), dip my fingers in and massage my hands. I go heavy on the oil and slip on a pair of nitrile gloves and let them sit for 10 minutes. It works best if someone can help you put on the gloves but I've done it alone and somehow managed to not get oil all over the place.

2. Fancy Conditioner

Maybe it's not super fancy but I buy one of those packs at Walgreens...the hair masks (I'm trying to live frugally so I get 2-3 uses out of each packet). I've fallen in love the argan oil varieties. I'll wet my hair, put in the mask for recommended time and then jump into a hot shower. It smells so nice and makes me feel like I'm really taking care of myself - I have to balance out the 1/2 bag potato chip binge earlier in the week somehow.

3. Exercise

Yeah, yeah, yeah. I won't be all preachy because tbh I struggle to maintain a consistent exercise schedule. But I have found that if I'm feeling down about that fact, I do some squats. Sure, not in the middle of Target (yet) but even doing something little can help.

4. Stretch

This kind of goes with exercise but to me it is a bit different. Sometimes I just want to stretch. Like a cat. My husband has walked in on me in the kitchen on more than one occasion, butt up in the air, stretching my legs. My cats enjoy "helping" me stretch too, by sticking their butts in my face and rattlesnaking their tails as if to say, "Yes! Do the stretches human! Here is my ass to encourage you!"

5. Sleep

Uh oh. I said it. The thing we are all lacking and pushing off for just ___ more minutes for _____. I am so guilty of shirking sleep. And it caught up with me. We all know how important sleep is so I won't lecture. But I do notice, especially with anxiety and depression, that my symptoms and ability to mange are greatly improved when I get 7-8 hours of sleep. This isn't always practical because, well, life. I try to make my day as efficient as possible and have practiced letting things wait until the next day.

Please just promise me you'll consult your physician before you do anything on here. I love you all and want you to be happy and healthy! ...so....like don't do a bunch of squats if your knees aren't ok...and don't use products you could be allergic to.
